Students

Are educational or language barriers preventing you from living your best life? Welcome to the M&O Literacy Council, where adult students can learn English, get a GED credential, and reach other life goals in a no-judgement environment. M&O Literacy Council provides one-on-one tutoring services and the educational support that students need to reach their potential. With personalized curriculum, consistent scheduling, and meetings close to home, tutoring services fit students’ specific needs and busy lives.

Life-Changing Outcomes for Literacy Students

By accepting assistance without fear of the consequences, students can improve their lives, careers, and relationships with family and friends. English language learners partner with M&O Literacy Council tutors to:

  • Learn to write, speak, and read English
  • Sharpen math and other academics to earn a GED
  • Build work readiness skills to advance in a career
  • Prepare for a U.S. Citizenship test
  • Study for the written test to get a driver’s license
  • Gain digital and computer technology skills
  • Achieve other life and career goals

We Provide the Educational Resources

M&O Literacy Council provides all of the books and learning materials necessary for tutoring sessions for English language learners. To help cover the cost of materials, M&O Literacy Council requests a $20 donation from students. Tutors and students meet one-on-one several times a month at a local church, technical college, municipal building, or library.

Learn English, Get a GED & Reach Other Goals

Since its inception in 2012, M&O Literacy Council has been pairing adult mentors with students for English classes and other literacy programs. The volunteer-led nonprofit organization helps adults in Marinette and Oconto counties complete a GED, acquire U.S. citizenship, get a job, obtain a driver’s license, and reach other goals.
